What we love about romance (and don't want to admit)!
Martina G.How many times have we said “never in real life”… and then fallen in love with the most problematic character in the novel?
In romance, some red flags become irresistible. And perhaps that's the beauty of it: you can only experience them through the pages.
Here are the ones that, let's face it, make our hearts beat.
1. The morally grey who doesn't apologize
Cold, controlled, mysterious. He's no Prince Charming... but when he loves, he truly loves.
2. The “I hate you but I can't live without you”
Enemies to lovers who make us suffer for 300 pages before the kiss.
3. The possessive (only in books)
Protective, intense, jealous. Not in real life, but in romance? Yes, please.
4. The Dark Past
Traumas, secrets, emotional scars. And we're there, ready to save him alongside the protagonist.
5. The bad boy who changes just for her
A timeless classic. We know it's a cliché... but it always works.
6. The “touch her and you die”
One sentence, a thousand shivers.
7. The silent one who demonstrates everything with gestures
He doesn't talk much, but when he does… we melt.
Maybe in real life we would choose something else.
But in books we can allow ourselves to experience all kinds of emotions.
